Thanks to your generosity, Phase II of the Mario Antonio Almonte Community Center is complete and Phase III has begun! We are thrilled to share with you the progress that has been made and a video summary of our first school year!

GOD AT WORK!
What an amazing team of donors the Lord has assembled to unlock the doors of opportunities for the Community of Los Cocos! We can't thank you all enough for answering the call to partner with us to complete Mario's Center. In addition to God miraculously providing for the Center, He also included a basketball court which was not part of our Phase II Plan!
While showing the Center to Pastor Odalis, we mentioned that we'd like to build a basketball court in the future. He exclaimed, "I have been praying for a basketball court to minister to kids hanging on the streets!" Promising to fundraise or look for a donor for the basketball court, we weren't back in the US for even 24 hours when someone texted,
"The Holy Spirit put it on my heart to do something with Sports Ministry
in Los Cocos, do you have any ideas?"
As you can see, the basketball court is completed. Gloria a Dios!!
Building Up opened the doors of the Center in September, 2021 to provide education and opportunities to the next generation of leaders in the DR.

BUILDING UP LOS COCOS AT A GLANCE
“Building Up” is a non-profit (501C3) that was started in 2017 after the success of the mission, “Building Homes... Building Relationships” started by Mario Almonte and Anne Dice in the community of Los Cocos de Jacagua.
Los Cocos de Jacagua is located north of Santiago in the Dominican Republic. Since the
“Building Homes... Building Relationships” mission was started, 158 houses have been built in Los Cocos and surrounding communities. Building Up completed construction of The Mario Antonio Almonte Community Center last year.
This community center will provide Dominicans with many opportunities such as learning how to make jewelry with larimar (larimar is a rare stone found only in the Dominican Republic), fix bikes, learn English, as well as boost the overall self-sufficiency of the community so that community members will have the ability to generate an income and build their own homes.
